STIRRED

In some ways, nothing you’re about to read is new, but that’s the beauty of the scriptures–another lesson can be hidden right in front of us. God has certainly given each of us our unique story, and in most chapters I share an event from my life that has helped me see the scriptures more clearly. My hope is that you’ll find parallels to your own unique story and what it shows you about God. I also hope you’ll find refreshment and encouragement here, something that will provide new meaning and strengthen your faith.

I’ve been asked if this book is for believers or non-believers of Jesus Christ. The answer I give them is “Yes!” It is for both. How can this be, you might be wondering? Well, that’s the beauty of the scriptures. They don’t discriminate. In fact, one could successfully argue the enlightenment achieved by the first-time reader of a scripture can be equal to that experienced by those who have read it countless times and find increased significance from it. The scriptures are uniquely written to offer all of us something. Their divine richness can provide deep meaning to the pastor and the prisoner, to the baker and the botanist, to the chemist and the custodian, and to the young and old in their faith.

And so, I present to you Stirred. My prayer is you the reader will be stirred—that you will be emotionally moved and have your faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ strengthened. Conversely, I’m praying you won’t be overwhelmed where Jesus seems out of reach or not for you. Be stirred by the amazement of a Messiah that isn’t fire and brimstone or a Master of rules, but instead a Master of love, mercy, grace, incredible forgiveness and self-sacrifice. Have a read and start noticing elements perhaps unseen or not previously considered. Start to marvel at things you’ve missed or not known. Allow yourself to be stirred and become the beneficiary of a further revealing of the gospels.
